SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic. – With the aim of creating a nationwide network of guardians of nature, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources signed a cooperation agreement with Hodelpa Hospitality as part of the institution’s Ecohéroes Ciudadanos Volunteer Program.
The signing, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, represents a strategic alliance focused on public-private collaboration to design and implement training and educational programs that strengthen environmental awareness and encourage people’s active participation in protecting their surroundings.
The agreement includes workshops, talks, and awareness initiatives aimed at fostering an environmentally conscious and engaged citizenry. It also provides for high-impact community activities focused on the restoration and protection of ecosystems, such as reforestation efforts, cleanups of degraded areas, recovery of public spaces, and other actions designed to mitigate the effects of climate change and preserve biodiversity.
In addition, sustainable recreational projects will be promoted to encourage volunteer participation in ecological initiatives that combine recreational activities with respect for nature, while contributing to responsible tourism and generating lasting social and environmental benefits.
Minister of Environment Paíno Henríquez stated that the agreement will help advance environmental education, strengthen volunteerism, and support concrete actions for the restoration and protection of ecosystems in communities across the country.
“From the Ministry, we take on this commitment by providing technical support, guidance, and the institutional framework needed to ensure that every action is aligned with our national environmental policy,” he said.
